Dr. Mauer Gonçalves is a Consultant Cardiologist, academic, and clinical researcher based in Luanda, Angola, with extensive experience across clinical practice, medical education, and research.
He currently serves as Head of the Centro de Estudos Avançados em Educação e Formação Médica at Universidade Agostinho Neto (UAN), where he leads initiatives in advanced medical training and capacity development. He is also a Professor and Researcher at the Faculty of Medicine, Universidade Agostinho Neto, contributing to the academic and scientific advancement of cardiovascular medicine in Angola.
Clinically, Dr. Gonçalves practices as a Cardiologist at Aliva Saúde, with a strong background in cardiology and cardiopneumology, supported by years of frontline clinical experience in major healthcare institutions including Hospital Américo Boavida.
In the research domain, he is actively engaged as a Scientific Research Collaborator with ClinCoord Services, contributing to international clinical research efforts and strengthening cross-continental collaboration.
Dr. Gonçalves holds a PhD in Biomedical Sciences, an Executive MBA in Health Management, and foundational training in both Medicine and Cardiopneumology, reflecting a multidisciplinary profile that bridges clinical care, research, and health system leadership.
Within Amyloidosis Africa, he serves as Country Lead for Angola, where he supports national-level engagement in awareness, education, and research initiatives related to cardiac amyloidosis. His role contributes to strengthening regional collaboration, advancing early diagnosis, and aligning Angola with continental efforts in improving outcomes for patients with amyloidosis.
