Amyloidosis Africa is a pan-African initiative that brings together cardiologists from across the continent to address the growing but hidden burden of cardiac amyloidosis. Launched by CRK Clinical Research Key, we aim to raise awareness, educate health professionals, and drive continent-wide research collaboration for early diagnosis and improved patient care.
Amyloidosis Africa began as a clinical collaboration between cardiologists in Kenya, driven by the growing concern of underdiagnosed cardiac amyloidosis in African populations.
With support from national societies and research networks, we expanded across Africa, uniting doctors, researchers, and policymakers under one mission: equity in rare disease care.
We now serve as a central platform for awareness campaigns, training programs, policy advocacy, and research, shining a light on a once-forgotten disease.
We're working daily with clinicians and institutions across Africa to elevate the diagnosis and treatment of cardiac amyloidosis.
Amyloidosis Africa is dedicated to:
Raising awareness of ATTR amyloidosis across Africa
Promoting early and accurate diagnosis
Educating healthcare professionals through evidence-based programs
Supporting research, registries, and quality improvement initiatives
Advocating for equitable access to diagnostics and care

Improve recognition of red-flag features and align practice with international standards from the European Society of Cardiology and American Heart Association .

Seek evaluation for persistent or unexplained symptoms and learn from trusted organizations such as the Amyloidosis Foundation .

Collaborate to develop referral pathways, registries, and diagnostic capacity across African health systems.

Support African-led data generation to ensure representation in global amyloidosis research.
Voices From
Amyloidosis Africa
We are building a continent-wide network of cardiologists committed to improving care for patients with amyloidosis. This collaboration is long overdue and necessary.

Cardiac amyloidosis is no longer a rare disease, it’s a rarely diagnosed one. Through Amyloidosis Africa, we are reshaping how Africa detects and manages this hidden epidemic.
We deliver evidence-based medical education to healthcare professionals across Africa to strengthen early diagnosis and improve patient outcomes.
We connect researchers and clinicians across Africa to collaborate on amyloidosis research, share data, and strengthen multicenter African-led studies.
We advocate for the recognition of amyloidosis as a health priority in Africa, promoting equitable access to diagnosis, care, and policy support.
We raise awareness of amyloidosis across Africa to improve early recognition, reduce misdiagnosis, and challenge the myth that the disease is rare.
We advance Africa-led clinical research to improve understanding, diagnosis, and outcomes of amyloidosis, ensuring African patients are represented in global evidence.
We implement quality improvement initiatives to reduce diagnostic delays, improve clinical pathways, and strengthen amyloidosis care within African health systems.
We support patients and families by improving access to reliable information, guidance, and navigation throughout the amyloidosis care journey.
We work across Africa to improve awareness, early diagnosis, research, and access to care for people affected by amyloidosis.
We advance cardiac amyloidosis care across Africa through collaboration, training, and research. Join us to change the future of heart health and empower local clinicians with knowledge and tools.
