Why Amyloidosis Africa Was Born
Amyloidosis Africa is a pan-African scientific and educational initiative that brings together cardiologists, heart failure specialists, and researchers to improve the recognition, diagnosis, and understanding of cardiac amyloidosis across the continent.
Launched by CRK Clinical Research Key, we aim to raise awareness, educate health professionals, and drive continent-wide research collaboration for early diagnosis and improved patient care.

The Start
Amyloidosis Africa began as a clinical collaboration between cardiologists in Kenya, driven by the growing concern of underdiagnosed cardiac amyloidosis in African populations.

Growing Together
With support from national societies and research networks, we expanded across Africa, uniting doctors, researchers, and policymakers under one mission: equity in rare disease care.

We now serve as a central platform for awareness campaigns, training programs, policy advocacy, and research, shining a light on a once-forgotten disease.

Continental Engagement
We're working daily with clinicians and institutions across Africa to elevate the diagnosis and treatment of cardiac amyloidosis.
Awareness and Education
Amyloidosis Africa works to improve recognition of cardiac amyloidosis among healthcare professionals across the continent. Educational initiatives include dissemination of clinical resources, professional webinars, and awareness activities aimed at strengthening recognition of ATTR-CM in patients with unexplained heart failure.
Clinical Collaboration
Amyloidosis Africa aims to connect clinicians and researchers across African countries who are interested in improving recognition and diagnosis of cardiac amyloidosis. Strengthening collaboration across institutions and cardiology networks may help support future multicountry studies and knowledge exchange.
Research and Data Generation
The initiative supports efforts to generate data on cardiac amyloidosis in African healthcare settings through physician surveys, collaborative research projects, and participation in registry initiatives. Improving representation of African populations in global datasets is an important priority.
Capacity Building
The initiative seeks to support educational activities that strengthen clinical recognition of ATTR-CM and improve diagnostic pathways within diverse healthcare systems.
