Prof. Salem Abdessalem is an experienced interventional cardiologist based in Tunis, Tunisia, with more than two decades of clinical practice, academic contribution, and leadership in cardiovascular medicine. He has been practicing at La Clinique Pasteur de Tunis since 1998, where he is actively involved in interventional cardiology and patient care . In parallel, he has held academic roles, including serving as Professeur agrégé at Hôpital La Rabta and the Faculty of Medicine of Tunis, contributing to the education and training of future cardiologists .
Prof. Abdessalem has played a significant leadership role in the cardiology community in Tunisia, having served as President of the Tunisian Society of Cardiology and Cardiovascular Surgery (STCCCV) and currently contributing as Immediate Past President. His leadership reflects a strong commitment to advancing cardiovascular care, professional collaboration, and scientific engagement at both national and regional levels .
Within Amyloidosis Africa, he serves as Country Lead for Tunisia, supporting national awareness and education efforts, facilitating engagement with key stakeholders, and contributing to multi-country research and registry-linked initiatives focused on improving the recognition and diagnosis of cardiac amyloidosis across Africa.
