Dr. Karine Fonkoua is a Cameroonian occupational physician and cardiologist with expertise in cardiovascular medicine, occupational health, aviation medicine, hypertension, vascular imaging, and echocardiography. She currently serves as an Occupational Physician and Cardiologist at Idimed Polyclinic in Douala, where she provides clinical cardiology services while leading occupational health programs for multiple organizations.

Dr. Fonkoua earned her Doctor of Medicine from the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmaceutical Sciences of Douala and completed specialist training in Cardiology with High Honors at Félix Houphouët-Boigny University in Côte d’Ivoire. She has further advanced her expertise through postgraduate diplomas in Occupational Health and Safety, Non-Invasive Vascular Imaging, Hypertension and Cardiovascular-Renal Complications, Echocardiography, and Aviation Medicine from leading institutions in France and Côte d’Ivoire.

She is actively involved in continuing medical education and regularly participates in major African and international cardiology conferences, including AFRICARDIO, the Cameroonian Society of Cardiology (SCC), SOSECAR, Echobordeaux, and scientific meetings focused on hypertension, rhythm disorders, and cardiovascular imaging. Her professional interests include improving cardiovascular care, promoting workplace health, and advancing cardiovascular diagnostics across Africa.
