A/Prof. Blanche Cupido is President of SA Heart (South African Heart Association) and an Associate Professor of Cardiology at the University of Cape Town, South Africa. She is also a practicing cardiologist at the cardiac clinic at Groote Schuur Hospital. Her clinical expertise includes coronary intervention, echocardiography, adult congenital heart disease, and advanced heart failure management.

She completed her medical degree at the University of Cape Town and holds fellowships in Internal Medicine and Cardiology from the Colleges of Medicine of South Africa. She also earned a Master of Philosophy in Cardiology from the University of Cape Town and completed a fellowship in Adult Congenital Heart Disease at Leeds NHS Trust in the United Kingdom. In addition, she holds certification in Advanced Heart Failure Management from the ESC Academy and the University of Zurich.

A/Prof. Cupido is deeply committed to academic medicine and the training of future cardiologists, with a strong focus on strengthening cardiology education and clinical training across South Africa and the African continent.
